The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration About Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
